11/2 lb. ground beef
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1 cup coarsely crushed corn flakes cereal
1 finely chopped onion
2 tsp sea salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper, ground
1/2 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped
3 cups regular flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
a quarter teaspoon of salt
1 1/8 cup white sugar
3/8 cup vegetable shortening
1 quart milk
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190 degrees C). 2 baking sheets, greased
In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg until smooth. Combine the ground beef, cayenne pepper, crushed cereal, onion, salt, black pepper, and parsley in a mixing bowl. Set aside after mixing until evenly combined. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. With a pastry blender, cut in the shortening until no lumps remain and the mixture has a sandy appearance. Add the milk and stir until a dough forms.
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a 10×15-inch rectangle. Spread the meat mixture evenly over the dough’s surface. Form a 15-inch long log by rolling the dough into a cylinder from one of the wide ends. Place the log on the prepared baking sheets in 3/4-inch slices.
30 to 45 minutes in a preheated oven until dark golden brown. Serve immediately.
